Stephen Levin was chairman of privately-held Gold Coast Beverage Distributors based in Doral, Florida, which was sold in 2014 to Chicago- based Reyes Beverage Group for $1.1B. He bought the company in 2003 "with the goals to increase sales and profitability, while improving the company’s image and reputation, the company says...Since then, it has doubled its sales and market share to become the largest beer distributor in the state of Florida. Gold Coast, to maintain this position, is expanding its offerings to reach a wider market. “We launched a wine and spirits division about a year ago, and we’ve already become one of the top 10 wine and spirits distributors in Florida,” Levin says. When his family took control of the company, Levin says, it made several internal changes and focused on ways to increase profits."…

His wife, Petra, is a one-time Miss Germany, who is also an active philanthropist. She was host to a $1 million-per-plate event to benefit the American Cancer Society.…

In May 2013, the Levins paid $30 million "for New York Yankees player Alex Rodriguez’s contemporary-style...nine-bedroom house that A-Rod built on a lot with 275 feet of waterfront [facing Biscayne Bay] at 4358 N. Bay Road, just north of the I-195 Julia Tuttle Causeway."… The house was famous for installing in time for the 2011 Art Basel Miami Beach, a "witty batting-cage installation by the New York-based sculptor and painter Nate Lowman [which] was [Jeanne] Greenberg Rohatyn’s inspiration, generated out of a visit the ballplayer made to her gallery."… The Levins took out the installation when they bought the house.

Quotes Edit

  1. "A lot of our pieces lean toward the Pop art spectrum, but only the major artists. We just like looking at them. Some people like art that’s tough; I’m not interested in tough art. I like art that pleases us, that pleases our eye, that’s uplifting." —Ocean Drive Magazine, December 1, 2015
